Okinawa is a chain of Japanese islands located around 640 kilometres southwest of mainland Japan. It is known as “land of immortals” and is a site where people live longer than other places on Earth. There are only four locations in total, like Okinawa in the world. The people inhabiting these “zones” share common lifestyle characteristics that contribute to their long lives, health and longevity.
One of these areas is Okinawa, Japan. Okinawans have more people over 100 years old per 100,000 population than anywhere else in the world. They also boast the lowest death rates from cancer, heart disease, and stroke. Finally Okinawans have the highest life expectancy for males and females over 65. Over the years, the lifestyles and genetics of more than 800 Okinawan centenarians have been researched and well documented.
